Our Clinic
Dr. Tracy Standridge proudly serves the Owasso and surrounding communities.
Dr. Standridge founded Standridge Clinic in 1988, and he has remained on the cutting edge of his profession by bringing the newest procedures and technology to his clinic. He was motivated to choose the profession of Chiropractic because it involved returning a person’s health conservatively without “putting anything in” or “taking anything out.” Being a chiropractic patient himself as a younger person, he also found his own ultimate health naturally through his family chiropractor.
Dr. Standridge holds a Masters Degree in Health Science Exercise Physiology and a Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine from Logan College in St. Louis, MO. He is also a graduate of Oklahoma State University. In addition, he is a member of the following organizations:
The centerpiece of our clinic is the chiropractic adjustment, the correction of misaligned vertebra or subluxation. By restoring the parts of your body to their proper position, the adjustment provides relief and corrects the subluxation/pinched nerve. Complementing the adjustment, we offer a few other services as needed. These include the PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Frequency) and the DRX9000 Disc Decompression machines. The combination of these techniques and services our office provides gives meaning to our motto, “Well beyond chiropractic.”
We understand you might have more questions about chiropractic care, regular treatment, our technique(s), etc. Click any of the frequently asked questions below to learn more about some of these topics:
What is chiropractic care?
It is both the art and science of finding the misaligned boney structures in the spine and extremities (shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles) that are causing loss of normal function, swelling, inflammation, and pinched nerves. Upon identifying those, we then restore them to their proper position, which results in the return to normal function and good quality of life.
What does a chiropractor do?
In the simplest terms, he or she finds and corrects misalignments of the spine or extremities, thereby removing pinched nerves. This is accomplished by using either the doctor’s hands or by using an instrument.
What can a chiropractor treat?
The chiropractor can treat anything related to the misaligned boney structures causing poor health. It’s worth pointing out that when bones are misaligned, they can adversely affect the nervous system. When this happens, “dis-ease” occurs and the nervous system, which controls every bodily function, is kept from maximally directing every bodily function. At the very least, when re-alignment is achieved, the body’s naturally given defenses are enhanced.
What about X-Rays?
Be cautious and question whether you should see a chiropractor who isn’t using or doesn’t use X-rays. “To see is to know.” X-rays provide a picture of the spine to your doctor so that he/she knows exactly what to do for you and, more importantly, what not to do. Your medical doctor frequently uses lab results to tell him or herself what to do prescribing your medication. In the same way, your chiropractor uses X-rays to determine what approach is best for you. Your health and safety is with using X-rays so that your chiropractor isn’t guessing about your health. One size doesn’t fit all. X-rays help the doctor determine a specific approach for you.
What about licensing – is it like other doctors?
Chiropractors are licensed and governed in all 50 states and many foreign countries.
Do I have to go regularly?
It’s your choice. However, once your pinched nerves and misalignments are corrected, we (most of the time) suggest staying well beyond chiropractic by visiting the chiropractor and following a maintenance plan that best suits your needs. Remember that there are two unavoidable forces against your spine: gravity and time (age). As each of these continually affects the spine, you’ll slowly feel the pain, soreness, and deterioration from them. Maintenance care pushes back against the effects of both gravity and time. Wisdom teaches to protect your spinal health, which is what maintenance care is all about.
